In language class yesterday, my teacher ended up talking about cat genetics and ultimately we got into gerbil genetics and tried to figure out exactly what breed Felix* was. (We actually already "knew"** that Felix was a golden ardente) but when we used a Gerbil Color Calculator on the internet. It said that Felix and Fiona*** would have only agouti**** babies, but really Felix and Fiona had mostly black (spotted?) and just one agouti baby.
Now back to why we ended up talking about cat genetics in language class.
Well, we were learning about poems, and one of the narrative poems was about martians in calico gowns, at first some people thought "calico" in that content, meant cat with two colors and white.
Ultimately that got my teacher telling us that only female cats are calicos, then I told the class that that's because the males have one X and one Y chromosome, and the females have two X chromosomes, and the color gene is on the X chromosome, therefore females have two colors and white, and males have one color and white.
Now for the Las Vegas part, in another part of the poem, it said "the martians gamboled***** away" and gamboled sounds a lot like gambled.******
And the pickled pies part of the title is nonsensical and has nothing to do with this post.
